Biomedical simulation of physiological and prosthesized human femur

AST worked in collaboration with the design department of a supplier of medical and surgical material to evaluate a new design of prothesis before being launched to market.

A physiological femur and a prosthesized femur were compared to evaluate the effect of the implantation of the new prothesis on the femur.

  • Development of geometry and FEA model of the femur from a set of CT images
  • Development of prosthesized femur FEA model
  • Analysis of physiological and prosthesized femur under normal loading conditions
