Logistics systems simulation
Document Actions
In the year 2005 a company specialised in the surface treatment, installation of components and the logistic management of towers for wind turbines built a workshop of 3500 m2, which has a sandblasting cabin and two painting cabins for the process of surface treatment, these installations produced a capacity of 12 lengths per week.
In the year 2006 this company decided to expand their existing installations with the idea of duplicating the productive capacity of the installations. This necessity for expansion was repeated in 2007 and 2008.
Development of a support simulator for the planning of production which allows the personnel of the workshop to establish the best plan for specific established conditions like consumption and necessary resources to undertake the plan.
The simulator was developed with a tool to help decision taking that allows the user to study the different production alternatives and visualise the consequences of different production plans. This way the user can choose the best solution according to the conditions established by the production department.
This tool does not only allow an improvement in the control of production but also increases the efficiency of communication and setting objectives within the organisation.
Other tasks undertaken were:
- A study of methods and times.
- Elaboration of the 5S program.
- Development of news handling systems.
- Improvement of operations in the workshop through visual management.
